A picture of one of the rebel cars that our section captured on the night of
the 7th/8th of March at "Calvi" from the force "LIMA". An
interesting scenario that night when a force of about 100 armed unidentified
individuals, with three vehicles, approached our positions along the road from
the direction of the rebel-held villages. Upon contact with our unit at
checkpoint Calvi, the para-military force put down (and even threw away) their
weapons and "surrendered" to the French Army. It turned out that the
unit was a force "LIMA", Liberian insurgents hired - and armed - by
the FANCI to fight the rebels in the villages of Fengolo and Bengolo, to the
north of Duekoue. After a brief but bloody encounter with the rebels, the LIMA
had no other option but to retreat towards the French-held positions, along with
all the vehicles and material that the LIMA took from the rebels. As can be
seen, the vehicles belonged to the rebel group "MJP" (Mouvement pour
la Justice et la Paix - Movement for Justice and Peace) and were painted with
various terrorist slogans like Al Khaida (Al Qaida), Moudjahidine and others.
Being denounced and rejected by the FANCI, the force LIMA were treated as
prisoners of war and held for several days in a specially constructed and
guarded area near the checkpoint until they were shipped off to Abidjan.
