Commandos of the 3eme group of the 3eme section. Taken on the first day of a week-long "Regimental Exercise" involving the entire 4e RE.

This photo was taken on the farm of the "CIC", where they instruct/teach the future Caporals and Sous-Officers. We're wearing the now obsolete old-style army-green fatigues and old-fashioned "brelage" style webbing.

A victorious but hungry, dirty and tired legionnaire. Taken on the last day of the Reg. Ex. which we spent defending a village against "attacks" from the 4e CIC, to the confusion of the local civilian population. Little did I know at that stage that I'd be doing the same thing a few month later with real bullets and real enemies...
